Mimi Vang, Brussels, Belgium
During the month of December, many presents are exchanged between family and friends. Even Zack got in on the action! Zack unwrapped this special gift with his friend Mimi Vang at “Plaisir d”Hiver”, the Christmas Market (Brussels, Belgium). Despite the cold, Mimi and Zack had a lot of fun buying lovely gifts, drinking mulled wine and ice skating at “Plaisirs d’Hiver”.
After joining AIESEC in 2006, Mimi Vang, Masters 1 Student at ICHEC in Belgium, learned and improved on an enormous amount while becoming a young professional. She appreciates the abundance of opportunities in which she contributes to her university and student community, works with a team and manages its projects, and networks with members of the business community. However the aspect of AIESEC that she enjoys the most is the internationalism: meet people from all over the world in addition to discovering the richness of their cultures and exploring current world issues.
So what is this organization that offers youth so many possibilities during their studies?
AIESEC, present in 107 countries around the world, is the largest international student-run organization. The association offers youth the chance to perfect their leadership skills while running a business, and gives them the possibility to participate in an internship abroad in their field of study (or in a humanitarian project), resulting in a positive impact on society. Created in the 40s after WWII, the founders wanted AIESEC to be a solution that brought peace to future generations. Little that they know, after 60 years the phenomenon spread well beyond the European borders.
The association proposes a unique and personalized experience to every student; it is open to all university students. Similarly, AIESEC supplies businesses with its headhunting services; companies can easily find and hire someone from another country who may speak several languages, the knowledge to expand the business into another country, or a fresh look on approaching a problem.
Today, after a lot of hard work and dedication, Mimi is now the president of her local committee, AIESEC ICHEC. However, she doesn’t plan on stopping there because she foresees numerous opportunities in AIESEC and would like to leave her legacy behind in Belgium and also on a global level. Let’s see where the future will take her.
Mimi left us with one of her favorite quotes, inspired by AIESEC: “Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.”
Mimi Vang is a representative of
AIESEC Belgium.
