The Patron Keenly in tune with the way things look, taste, smell and feel, Patrons have a strong appreciation for aesthetics and/or new things. Compelled to stand out, they are always looking for what others do not have and how to help them get it.
Patrons are free spirits with two particular skills: to discover what others want and find what others can’t. They have a keen appreciation for the novelty and uniqueness of products and services. They invest most of their time scanning the Net and the real world for what they want and feel they need. Patrons are not ones that would necessarily show off the newest products and services nor would they likely be the first to go out and try out the newest fad, however; they bear a loyalty to the information which they provide. Their goal is not really to possess what they discover. Instead, they enjoy trying and testing it. When they feel as though they have made a significant discovery, they will help the creator (whether company or artist) to attain acknowledgment become well-known.
Patrons love aesthetics and while their favourite gadgets may bring them great excitement, their blog will use little frivolity and may even be a bit plain. All the focus is put on their latest discovery and they don’t want the layout of their blog to detract from their information. Patrons use pictures and videos to show their new treasures and will talk about it with great interest in an effort to intrigue the reader. The only personal touch you will find the Patrons using in general is their acquired taste and experience. Though knowledgeable, Patrons have difficulty specialising in one particular field; this is why they base a lot of their insight on what experts say. Patrons enjoy giving a lot of information about their discoveries but without extravagance. They will get to the point, yet may point out some practical examples when possible.
Patrons don’t interact much with their audience and would rather focus their time on the next discovery. Followers may see this blog as a place where they can give commentary freely and begin interacting with one another rather than the blogger.
Patrons are usually quite active bloggers and will share their information on different platforms such as social networks and micro-blogs (sites that make publishing and discovering of blogs and discussions within their networks easier). They will also have a large, favoured bloggers’ list (aka blogroll) with other fellow treasure hunters and will share all links possible. The Patron wants to share because he wants his followers to know!
Being a Patron is often costly and it’s not rare to find advertisement, sponsorship or many affiliations within their blog.
